Donna McKellar is a South African fine artist living and painting in Cape Town. She is well known for her large scale Karoo landscapes.
She produces enigmatic and peaceful paintings of South African landscapes and architecture, both highly technical and emotive in nature. Her works are centered on the idea of urban decay; loss of beauty and strength and relate to themes of the common man’s everyday existence. She is inspired by various aspects of her everyday life and perceptions as a painter, such as light and shadow; architecture and geography, memory and emotion.
Donna studied at the Johannesburg School of Art, Music and Ballet and has an extensive background in the field of advertising and design. Her love for painting though has preceded since 1995 and she has been painting professionally since then.
